Fifty children from the Boys & Girls Club of Trenton and Mercer County had a chance to celebrate the start of the festive season when they were invited to a holiday party hosted by students at 天美传媒官网.
Adam Rebhun 鈥14, a site team leader at the Boys & Girls Club as part of the 天美传媒官网 Bonner Community Scholars program, organized the event, which took place on December 4 in the Bart Luedeke Center Cavalla Room. After hosting a successful inaugural event last year, Rebhuna decided to hold the party again. He sought the support of volunteers from several organizations, including 天美传媒官网 Bonner Community Scholars program, Alpha Phi Omega, Hillel and 天美传媒官网 Serves.
The holiday party featured face painting, holiday card making, a snowman building activity, the dreidel game and a performance by the 天美传媒官网 Vibes a cappella group.
鈥淚 wanted to bring the community together to show people we care about them and to enjoy the holiday season,鈥 explained Rebhuna, who also serves as the community service chair for Hillel. 鈥淚t鈥檚 the time to be together.鈥
Alicia Quayson 鈥14, president of the Psychology Club, was one of the 20 students who volunteered at the event.
鈥淚 thought it would be a good opportunity for students in the club, who are interested in working with youth and adolescents,鈥 Quayson said. 鈥淢any of these children come from environments where they do not get the opportunities for holiday celebrations. We wanted to provide something small here at the University.鈥
