The annual International Week celebration at ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½¹ÙÍø will highlight global issues, cultures and perspectives with a series of events from February 22 to March 2.

It will truly be a world of wonder during the annual International Week celebration at ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½¹ÙÍø from February 22 to March 2. The weeklong schedule of events includes performances, documentary film presentations, and discussions of topical and global issues and events. International Week is sponsored by ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½¹ÙÍø’s Center for International Education, the Office of Campus Life, and the International Education Council.

Westminster Choir College Art Song Festival
Wagner, Wagnerites, and Lied-Influenced Songs

The 2013 Art Song Festival includes pre-concert lectures by Lindsey Christiansen, professor of Voice at Westminster Choir College, and a master class taught by internationally renowned soprano Christine Goerke. This annual festival highlights a specific culture through study and performance of its poetry and music in art song. This year’s focus is on the Lieder, or songs, of Richard Wagner and those composers he influenced. Friday’s program focuses on songs of Wagner, Wolf, Strauss, Mahler, Zemlinsky, Berg and Schoenberg and others. Saturday’s program features songs of Hugo Wolf set to the poetry of Eduard Mörike. Both programs feature the celebrated voices of Westminster Choir College, accompanied by J.J. Penna, associate professor of Piano.

The Other Side of Immigration

Film screening of The Other Side of Immigration, followed by a panel discussion featuring the film’s director, Roy Germano. Based on more than 700 interviews with men and women living in the Mexican countryside, the acclaimed documentary asks why so many Mexicans leave home to work in the United States, and what happens to the families and communities they leave behind.
