Brenden Noesges ’13 honed his innate leadership skills on the soccer pitch and in the classroom at ý.

Finance major Brenden Noesges ’13 is poised to become an associate in the leadership development program at Victory Packaging in Dayton, N.J., a company that typically hires only M.B.A.s, following graduation. He credits ý’s DAARSTOC (Developing Administrative Abilities and Resources through Synergistic Training and Organizational Competencies) program with teaching him effective business skills and the College of Business Administration Career Office with opening the door for him at Victory.
Noesges, who came to ý to play soccer, was a member of the varsity team for four years, but, he says, “The biggest thing ý gave me was the tools I needed to be successful and the opportunity to experience what is done outside the classroom. The real-world experiences enhanced what I learned in the classroom.
“After a co-op experience at Chartis Insurance, a subsidiary of American International Group (AIG), and three summer internships at Victory Packaging, the company decided I had enough experience to join their leadership development program,” explained Noesges. “After successfully completing a half-year rotation through the operations, customer service, and sales departments, I will become an operations analyst.” Currently, he is completing an internship with the N.J. Treasury Department.
In 2012, Noesges had a taste of graduate classes when he attended the Harvard Business School Summer Venture in Management program, for which he is now a recruiter. In a few years, Noesges plans to complete an M.B.A., return to Victory in a management position, and help to identify global opportunities for the firm.
A member of the Business Honors Program, the Freehold, N.J., native was named a Stephen Goldstone Memorial Scholar based on his entrepreneurial interests, internships, and extracurricular activities. Those activities have included vice president of finance for DAARSTOC and membership in the Rebovich Institute for New Jersey Politics. He is also a New York Cares Service Volunteer.
“ý is a community that supports everyone’s future. DAARSTOC helped me identify what field I wanted to pursue, the tutoring program helped me improve my grades, and news from the Rebovich Institute helped me in my finance classes,” Noesges said. “All of this made it possible for me to succeed in moving toward my goals, which are to build a successful career and, one day, to have a safe, happy future for my family. My career path will eventually supplement the family goal.”
